For nearly a century jazz has been a Common Ground for the inclusion and integration of musical styles, cultures, experiences, emotions, and a myriad of other elements. This theme carried through to the selection of players on this recording. As leader of this session, Metzger has assembled a group of musicians with diverse backgrounds and interests who share a common love for the music and for the instruction of a younger generation. The artists are all top drawer performers and are some of the leading educators in Jazz. The old adage, "Those who can't do - Teach" is completely disproved here. Instead, it might be more appropriate to coin a new adage, "Those who can do - Teach too."
