"Stomp It Off" will feature several works of the 1930s band often acknowledged as the hardest-swinging ensemble of its time - the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra. Some of these bravura pieces have been transcribed from the amazing College of Visual & Performing Arts Drapkin Collection of 20,000 records, so the swing aficionado and jazz newcomer alike can delight in the revived classics. The concert will also feature other overlooked gems from noted bands of that era where much of the music was by artists whose works are unpublished and the recordings unavailable.

Music will be performed by the exciting 17-piece big band, The Jazz Surge, led by composer/director and USF professor Chuck Owen. Their CDs have made the Top 50 Lists all over the world and their performances revered. Please join us to experience this amazing fusion of talent and fun.
